Alipay is a payment system app that helps users make payments, manage finances, pick an ideal insurance scheme, order from favourite restaurants, and also hail a cab. Founded by Alibaba Group in 2004, the app can also be used to receive/send money to peers, split food bills at a restaurant, pay utility bills, top up mobile phones, scan QR codes at local stores to make payments, enjoy several hundred promotions and discounts from different merchants, etc. The two standout features, however, are the escrow service that safeguards an online transaction, and flexible payment options that let users pick their preferred payment methods.
